Smooch from an Elephant ~ The African Safari Part 1

Happy Monday everyone!! So if you follow me on any one of my social media accounts you already know that I recently visited the Motherland again after a while (couple years almost). This trip was a short one, however I managed to make the most of the three I was there. So while I was waiting for relatives and friends to finish work (the joys of visiting midweek) I explored some and did a Safari tour. I took a lot of photos and want to share my exciting day with Themba, Langelihle, Constance and I forget the name of the fourth elephant I had the pleasure of meeting interacting with. I highly recommend this Safari, and for the critics ~ please note that this is not the elephants' permanent home. Infect these elephants were rescued from around the world e.g Langelihle was sold to a world circus where they obtain obedience of animals through pain. They are being trained while they look for more permeant homes for these beautiful creatures as their current residents aren't big enough to sustain their lifestyle. Anyway enjoy the pics and head over to my IG or Facebook to watch a video of me walking Themba!

SKIING ~ BIRTHDAY GETAWAY

BLESSED TUESDAY EVERYONE!!
Below are a few of the pictures from our birthday getaway for my boo. You know you're having a good time when you find the day coming to an end and you haven't taken much pictures (I was too busy falling off)!! but what a great experience it was. One of the highlights from the trip ~ apart from it being our first holiday getaway together and the skiing, we LOVED LOVED the cabin we stayed at! A self sufficient and cute little cabin in the middle of nowhere were we sat and enjoyed dinner, cuddled and watched movies form the 100 or so DVD that came with the cabin. It truly was a weekend to remember!!

A note to bae ~ I hope your first birthday with me was what you imagined and more. Looking forward more birthdays with you baby xx

DIY FLORAL MAXI SKIRT - DUBAI

HAPPY TUESDAY EVERYONE!!
NOW that Monday and its blues are behind us, my hopes are for a blissfully warm week for all. I'm fortunate enough to be home all week and therefore will be spending my time exploring the possibilities in my new found passion - or should I say re-kindled passion. Flashback years ago to boarding school in Zimbabwe, taking a course in Fashion and Fabrics was mandatory for my stream, (well either that or Agriculture, which loosely translated to spending all afternoon in the garden doing work...-hmm maybe NOT) so Fashion and Fabrics it was. The module back then was vastly limited to replicating our uniforms or general clothing but it is here that I discovered my passion for sewing.

THE art of transforming a simple garment into wearable art amazed me. It is a wonder- I had a passion for cooking also but I digress. This passion then took a backseat when we moved abroad and shopping came the forefront ~ I'm sure many ladies can relate.... Overtime, a deep desire to connect with my roots, my past and to also find the woman in me, sewing came back into my mind. I discovered that I can express my Individuality through my style and what I create. I was only an mature then and still am now. This is a journey of discovery that will undoubtedly  take time to master.

When i first laid eyes on the floral-print fabric, I knew what I would do with it. And when the maxi skirt came out just as I envision it, I wanted to celebrate this creation. What better way to celebrate my creation than to wear on my visit to the tallest Man-made building in the world! Atop the BURJ KHALIFA!

Thank you for reading in and enjoy the pictures. If you have read this far and were entailed by the blog ~ subscribe for more updates and content. Oh and also a big shout out to my colleague Lisa, an amazing photographer who spent half the time up at the Burj taking pics of me

Many thanks
